Greetings fair reader, and welcome to our shiny new blog....
Beginnings are not easy. Where should one start? There is so much to say, but trying to mash it all into a single initial post would be pointless. So, with that thought in mind, let me begin with the basics of who, what, where and why.

Who:
The Unorthodox Society for the Elucidation of Retro-Futurism has actually been around for many years now. We began as a small Facebook group who shared a common interest in things Steampunk (with the odd bit of Dieselpunk and Goth). We shared links, images, thoughts and ideas from all over the Internet and the world.
Over time that small group has morphed and changed. A Facebook page was added in 2016. And now in 2017 we are adding a blog and more.....much more.

We are a small organisation of people who have united to inform and enlighten people about retro-futurism, or in particular Steampunk. Our approach to this is not always orthodox or usual, but our purpose is clear. To paraphrase the Borg from the sci-fi series Star Trek;
"We are Steampunk. Resistance is Futile. You will be Elucidated."

Why:
Because Steampunk needs us. Enthusiasts need to be properly informed about Steampunk style so that their energy and passion is directed into creating an aesthetic that is original, practical, creative, and yet still stylish and true to the Victorian period.
